John Power Bio

John Power Artwork

From his spontaneous watercolors and drawings from life, the artist John Power paints compelling images of mythological themes. Still sustaining the directness and immediacy of the original components ---figure, nature and landscape studies, he strives to create powerful compositions only with an accelerating forcefulness, increasing intensity, and richness and depth of paint quality.

John studied figure drawing and anatomy with Gustav Rehberger at the Arts Students League and painting both at the League and the School of Visual Arts, New York City.He has shown in numerous metropolitan area shows including the Allied Artists and Salmagundi Club Juried Shows. His work is represented in many private collections.
